Summary0004507: all emails disapparead (cyrus folder renamed with a DOT appended)
Description

Hi,

Today a user complained all his messages in the inbox have disappeared.

I checked the logs and saw this (I replaced domain and user by example.com and jdoe) :

Cyrus IMAP log :
Jul 9 16:42:49 mail cyrus/imaps[14116]: client id: "x-originating-ip" "192.168.0.217, 10.10.20.12"
Jul 9 16:42:50 mail cyrus/imaps[14116]: Rename: example.com!user.jdoe -> example.com!user.jdoe.
Jul 9 16:42:50 mail cyrus/imaps[14116]: Expunged 2149 messages from example.com!user.jdoe

SOGo log :
Jul 09 16:42:50 sogod [16057]: 192.168.0.217, 10.10.20.12 "POST /SOGo/so/jdoe/Mail/0/folderINBOX/save HTTP/1.1" 200 31/177 0.540 - - 24K

Any idea how this could happen ?

PS : I easily restored all emails with "unexpunge -a", so no harm done, but I'd really like to understand what happened...

From what I can see, the user was renamed - user.jdoe would be mapped to the INBOX by default in Cyrus. So if it has been renamed to user.jdoe. - the user's INBOX was "wiped".
